Shower Updraft Pulses

Yesterday around DFW there were some isolated short lived showers in the afternoon. One caught my eye since yoiu could see four updraft columns lined up one befind the other. I took a shot with my cell phone and you see the structure somewhat - the picture isn't so great honestly. Since there was no chance of severe or strong storms I thought his was unusual since the "pulsing" seemed more like a longer lived strong storm. cloud1.jpg

Looks like you had some modest instability, moisture, and strong solar heating down there yesterday. The combination often results in convection, towering cumulus, showery precipitation, and pulse storms. Lack of deep layer shear or an organized surface pattern/cyclone/trough kept these from organizing into a more robust severe threat in typical summer weather fashion, but those multicellular clusters can persist for quite awhile as the cold pool from one gusting out updraft kicks up another.
