Senator aiming to nix federal weather forecasts enjoyed Accu

Jeff Masters summed everything up nicely in what he said here

There is $2000 limit per campaign cycle on the amount of money an
individual can give to a politician. I belive the limit is $5000 on what
you can donate to a PAC. Check out:

to see the breakdown on what the Myers brothers have been up to,
donation-wise. This web site also allows one to do a search by
company name. Type in "Weather Channel" and you'll see their executives
give a lot of bucks to the NATIONAL CABLE AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS
ASSOCIATION POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (NCTA PAC).

Accuweather and the Weather Channel are playing the usual corporate
influence-buying game. Amounts in the few thousands of dollars are still
an important infusion of cash to any polititian. If the Myers brothers
hadn't donated to Santorum's campaign, would he still be pushing an
Accu Weather-favorable bill? Quite possibly, but less likely to be so.
Public financing of campaigns would help reduce the influence of these
type of corporate donations, and is much needed, in my opinion.
