• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

RM Young Anemometer to PC

I own a (rather expensive) RM young Anemometer along with the Wind Tracker display unit which I make great us off during my hurricane intercepts. For the rest of the year it sits idle in my office.

During the “off seasonâ€￾ I would like to attach it to my house and record wind speeds etc – hopefully being able to log them to my Weather Server. I see that the RM Young Wind Tracker has a 0-5volt output that I could use?

Can anyone suggest a way that I can connect my RM Young to a PC so that I can log the out put – I really want to do this in real time if possible.

Very interesting, Stuart. Let us know how it works out. I'm particularly interested because I'm using a similar USB device for a servo motor project I'm working on.

I have a full instrument set, less a computer / display for them. They have outputs in varying voltage outputs as such

temp -50 to 150 f = 1-1.00v
humidity 0-100 % = 0-1.00v
windspeed 0-100mph = 0-5.00 v
direction 0-360 deg = 0-5.00 v

Is there any preprogrammed hardware / software+display solution around? I'm not too great of a programmer, and right now dont have the time to learn. I'd like something that uses a GPS to compensate for vehicle heading when giving me direction, and also logs time/location with the data .... as well as embedding the data into my web tracker packet.

I know that is asking alot, but is there anything around that might be of interest?

Just to round off this thread,

I was able to make great use of the W.A.S.P. board to convert the output from my RM Young anemometer (Wind Tracker Display) to be read via an App that I wrote.

I *did* discover a couple of things… I have a strange model of Wind Tracker = the out put voltages is actually 0-2.5V for 540 degrees (I know I was expecting 360) also at 100 mph the output is 2.5V BUT at 200 mph I get 5 Volt – Most Wind trackers give 5 V @ 100 mph and wont give any higher voltage out put from there.

Here is a screen shot of my app.
