Rebel XT on sale at Walmart for $299

For this price, buy them all, and then sell them on ebay for more....there's a quick and good way to make some last minute money for chase season.

BTW...I actually haven't check the latest price for a NIB XT on ebay. I do own the camera, and that is 'silly cheap' for such a camera.

Isn't this cam like 5 years old and outdated ? I don't think that you would make any money selling these

That sounds dumb to me. It maybe a little older, but is still a vary relevant camera. It's 8mp is still better than most and it does nearly everything the XS does.

If the deal in the store comes with a lens, than it is a deal (if resold on ebay). However, if it's the body only, eBay has these selling for between $200 and $230

Not a bad deal at all. You can put the savings towards better glass, which is more important than the camera body by an order of magnitude.

Thanks for the heads up. I picked one up the other day. Love it so far. Looking for lenses now.

I'm not knocking the Rebel XT, and $299 is a nice price if you are looking to get into a digital SLR, but by no means would I go out and buy one in hopes of selling it and making money. $299 is a fair price, but it is not worth much more than this.

Another tip: if you are shopping in this price-range, you can pick up a low-mileage used Canon 30D for approx $400-$425 if you are patient enough to shop around, and a 30D is much better than a Rebel XT.

Just a thought,
Bryan

XT is getting a bit long in the tooth, but it's still a heck of a good camera:

$299 is silly cheap for a camera as good at the XT.

It is not just silly cheap, it is stupid cheap. That price is not justifiable, for the output of quality that the camera delivers. I do not agree with the price.

Of course, we all know Walmart has nothing to lose.

I will never shop their in my life.

Closest/lowest legit price I could find on Amazon (affiliate) is $396 + shipping. It is not available in their online store, so that means the stock at the store is all you will find. Not sure if they have anyone who will look-up if any nearby stores still have them in stock, but I'm sure they are going fast.

What's wrong with the image quality
Sure, the kit 18~55 has more in common with a prism than a lens, and the body is rather flimsy plasticrap, but I'm not seeing anything wrong with the images.

I've got one of the things, and shoot it using old Olympus OM lenses. Results are more than acceptable. More modern cameras have more pixels, and probably a bit more dynamic range, but neither of these is a concern 90% of the time. IMO, any DSLR must be considered semi-disposable. If you accept that you're buying a cheap plastic camera, I don't think a DrebelXT is such a bad deal.

You did not read my post properly.

Ostensibly, I was saying that the image quality is so great and superior and the functionality is so smooth, that this price, that is seemingly so low, is inappropriate and disingenuous. The price is too low, for how good the XT really is.

I have an Canon Digital Rebel XT (EOS 350D) and an EOS 5D.

The quality of the rebel xt begins to rival even my 5d images...
