Radarscope Problems Yesterday?

I had a whole bunch of radarscope problems yesterday on my android phone and tablet in KS. Since I was chasing by myself I couldn't really document the problems to submit, but I was wondering if anyone else had a problem?

Radarscope just crashed and terminated on both devices more than once. More than once on both devices I opened Radarscope and the screen went back. Had to hit the power button to get it to clear.

And scarily/worst of all, it was actually showing me an incorrect position for the blue GPS location target (or maybe an old data point), showing me well north of my actual position (GRLevel3 was showing the correct position).

By the end of the day it was back to normal.

Oh and I'm not bashing Radarscope, I love it and was just disappointed because this was the first time I've seen these problems. But I was really happy I had good ol' GR3 running yesterday.

I used RS yesterday for 3-4 hours and didn't experience any issues. I know that doesn't help you much, but having it happen on two devices at once would seem to indicate something was wrong. One thing I can say is that smartphones and tablets are essentially highly sophisticated devices that need to be updated and restarted often, which helps keep them running at peak efficiency. That's just general advice and not meant to solve your particular issue though.

My chase partner had problems with RS on his tablet and his phone at times. They are as you describe. As long as I had data, it worked on my phone without a hitch, though.

After my initial problems I was able to document the issue and submit it to Radarscope tech support. They were thankful for the documentation and are investigating further but I wanted to let others know in case they encounter the same thing. When I'm on a storm I'm looking at the sky way more than the radar but the position offset could have gotten me closer to the hail than I wanted to be in a rental car :-) Here's what I wrote them with photos inserted below:

I was out storm chasing in Texas and Oklahoma back in late April, and for several days had some very weird positional errors on two different devices (Droid phone and Samsung tablet). Repeatedly, radarscope was showing its blue GPS target circle in an old or incorrect position. Google Maps would show the correct GPS position on the same device even when radarscope wasn't. Restarting Radarscope would not fix the problem, but rebooting it it would--for a while. Meanwhile, GRLevel was indicating the position correctly the whole time. At one point I finally had a chance to stop and document it. In the first picture you can see the correct position on the PC in the first picture on both Delorme mapping software (left side of the screen) and GRLevel (right side of the screen). You can see the stop sign in the background showing I was in fact at the intersection shown.

In the second picture you can see radarscope indicating an incorrect position (the blue circle should be shown farther to the right at the intersection of the vertical line indicated by the other spotter network positions). I sat at this location for at least 5-10 minutes so radarscope should have caught up in any case. The third photo shows all three screens at once. You can see the date and location of the photos in the "info" button on the upper right of the photos.

I was also running the android spotter location client (since I turn radarscope on and off to save data), and thought that might be interfering. So I started running that client on a different device (I'd run the client on the tablet and radar scope on the phone or vice versa) and then I still had the problem as you can see in the fourth photo in the set, which was radarscope running on my tablet. Here, the spotter network location reported for me was actually correct (and I was stationary) but the blue target circle was indicating a completely different position.

The only time RadarScope even gave me problems was after an upgrade. At the advice of their support staff I cleared the application cache (settings->app manager-> downloads->radarscope then select "clear data"). That solved my problems.
