Hey guys,
Alright I am really new to this so there's my disclaimer. I'm still waiting on Tim's book to get here but have been doing research online and have a real quick question. I am demoing GRLevel 3 and Stormlab to get used to reading and understanding radar, and I was looking today at a tornado warned cell in South Carolina. On the GRLevel 3 they have the red and green Relative Velocity Image, but the rotation isn't as clear as it is on the Stormlab image.

In GRLevel 3 I see changes in wind direction that look just like that on the radar image in almost every cell, but the rotation in Stormlab really doesn't show up that well in the other non-warned cells. Is it just something I haven't learned yet or is it just easier to see without the smoothing? Sorry if this is a stupid question but Im new so yeah :) I hope I uploaded the images correctly, if not let me know. Thanks for your time!

Yeah, turn smoothing off on GR3 (at least for velocity images) I am sure it would look a lot like the storm lab image ;) Smoothing just broadly pieces together and well smooths the data where as when you have it turned off it truly gives you the couplet and at the least makes it become more definable as the storm lab data does.

Awesome thanks, also noticed that the color tables have a bigger difference in color change, doesnt just go from dark red to light red. Helps a lot.

Color tables for both products can be changed to meet your needs. Check out GRLevelxStuff.com and StormLabstuff.com for all sorts of information, placefiles, color tables, etc.
