Hello, I'm wondering how I can find old radar images from specified dates. For instance, I would like to see the radial velocity and VIL from January 7, 2008. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get level II and level III data here: http://has.ncdc.noaa.gov/pls/plhas/has.dsselect

You will need a program to read the data, ie. GRLevel2/GR2AE for the level II data or GRLevel3 for the level III data. You can download trial versions of both programs at http://grlevelx.com/.

Simply unarchive the files and drag them into the GR program. I recommend using Level II data as it is higher resolution.

Hope that helps.

Hi George -- Isaac has good advice. if you only are looking for a quick view of reflectivity from the past few years, then you can head to the Iowa State's IEM radar page at http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/GIS/apps/rview/warnings.phtml . Use the "Time" and "Location" buttons on top (make sure to select "Set Archive Mode" under the "Time" menu)... This only gets you radar reflectivity factor (in addition to warnings, satellite data, etc.), though.
