Hi gang,

I am interested in getting the Iphone 4 and noticed there are a few radar apps available, such as the Storm Spotter one. Do any of you use any of these on your Iphone 4 and if so how do you like it? Is there a particular radar app you recommend? Thanks.

Yeah, I can agree with the RadarScope recommendation. It's a nice program.

I will vouch for RadarScope as well. Wonderful program and the updates just keep making it better. Especially the warning pollygons.

RadarScope is worth the money. Level 3 data, warning polygons, and Spotter Network integration all in this nifty little app. Also, it's very stable...never has crashed on me yet.

Yep, as has been posted here and in other threads, RadarScope is the one to beat right now for chasers using iOS devices when you really want a pure radar viewing/chasing application.

That's fine, guys, but if I'm correct Radarscope has not the street maps that is a problem if you're chasing in a rural zone of the Plains, far away from cities and without good roads option.

It would be the perfect app, if it had a well detailed street map.

Lets remember this is a very small screen to be trying to read road names and what not, especially if this is your only current means of radar and you are on the road (think local chase). If I need directions I can flip the phone over to the tom tom if local, otherwise I would not be using my iphone for guidance (or radar for that matter).

The iPhone isn't very practical for street routing as mentioned above, but it can be done. If local street maps are high on your list of needs out of an app, then I recommend the Storm Spotter app, which uses a Google Maps mapping interface and can track your location via the phone's GPS.

Sure, but I think it's no a matter of reading the name of a street; often chasing is to make the right choice at the right time; I mean, going eastward or southward can change the end of your stormchasing day, that is you can lose or nail a tornado. That's the reason why I think the road map is so important.

You're right, even if I would prefer an app without an overlay with Google Maps, as it could get "heavy" and "crashable".
In my opinion the best would be an app with a nice radar data associated with a detalied road map, already being in the software of the same app. And Radarscope or Storm Spotter would be incredible if they had the road option inside.

with fast app switching I would just flip back and forth between radarscope and google maps. Radar only comes out every 5 minutes..you got 4 minutes there to figure out your road situation ;)
