Question about tabulation of tropical cyclone tornadoes

I am wondering about how the damage, deaths and injuries caused by tropical cyclone-spawned tornadoes are recorded. Are they included in the final casualty and damage figures for the hurricane, OR just as tornado damage/casualties, or both? I know the SPC includes them in its tornado fatality database: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/torn/2005deadlytorn.html
