• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I had a question for anyone who might also use PYKL3 coupled with the spotter network gps overlays. Recently I have noticed this getting worse but the green dots that represent active chaser gps locations are populating the screen far more than what seems realistic. I know that there are more chasers than ever and chaser convergence would be represented on the radar screen however I will check spotter network in order to see how many green GPS dots are shown in there and the numbers are far fewer. For instance yesterday I was following a severe line that passed through Tulsa Oklahoma and not only were there a good 12 to 15 green dots spread throughout the 2 severe boxes OKC had a cluster of 15 to 20 and I scrolled down to DFW and 10 or so were there. I checked spotter network and there were only about 13 active green gps icons on the entire CONES and 2 were around ne OK. Anyone know what the deal is?

The SN map does not show as many users as the SN placefiles, which is likely what PYKL3 is using. I'm not sure what filtering they are doing for their map, since it doesn't agree with either the all SN users placefile or the filtered users placefile in GR3.

I get identical SN maps in GR3 and PYKL3 with the all user placefile, but different colors. I get a somewhat smaller list of users in GREarth, but still more than the filtered list. The SN KML file loaded in Google Earth is completely different from any of them, and the SN web map shows the fewest of all.

Many users listed on SN are stationary, however that isn't how they are being filtered because several stationary users show up on the SN map and several mobile users don't.
