• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

    I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

    For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

    From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

President ridicules weather forecasters for getting it ‘wrong the most’ when they made a spot-on prediction

President Trump took a swing at meteorologists at a Wisconsin rally Saturday, calling out weather forecasters for a bad prediction. The only problem? The forecast was on the mark.

Thousands crammed into Resch Center in Green Bay for the weekend rally. After greeting supporters and launching jests at politicians he has nicknamed in the 2020 race, Trump’s remarks turned to the weather.

“They thought you were going to have a big snowstorm,” jeered Trump, crowds erupting into roaring cheers. “A big, big snowstorm. The people that get it wrong the most are the weather forecasters and the political analysts.”

I fail to see the benefit of this post. If the intent was political then it should probably go on a political blog and not here. Politics have worked their way into just about everything these days from sports to awards shows. Can we all agree to just leave politics out of our weather?
 
Remember the President has a lot of control over the NWS and his budget proposes massive cuts to the forecaster workforce. If he also thinks (and tells his followers) that the NWS screwed a major storm - when they didn’t for the most part - that doesn’t bode well for anyone who likes working with NWS data and meteorologists.

I'm not sure he has that much control, as his "proposed" budget has to be approved by Congress, and I believe past precedent shows the president's proposed budget is regularly hacked and bastardized to the point where a lot of items don't make the final budget.
 
Not total control of course...But I worry as get closer to 2020 and reps are up for election in a year when he’s up - how many of them who rode his coattails in 2016 want to say “And then I voted against his budget proposal and increased government spending” to their electorate in 2020?
