I am looking for a no contract Prepaid Broadband Data solution for chasing, and for use in the Dallas Fort Worth area . . .

I would like an Unlimited plan, but am otherwise willing to throw down for any decent solution.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Jim, Millenicom is probably the way to go. I'm currently with Verizon. I'm under their post pay pan, its $59.99 a month for 5 GB of data and I can suspend my account for up to 3 months I believe. Then its $35 or $45 to reconnect the service. Most likely I will switch to Millenicom next year because I can save about $10 a month because they do not charge you taxes unlike Verizon. They offer a free USB broadband card for their Advance Plan which is $59.99 a month for 20GB of data. Thats plenty of data. Heck 5GB is plenty in my opinion.

I'm using Tether with my Blackberry connected to my laptop. With my Sprint unlimited plan, I don't pay any extra for data. If you have a similar plan, I think that's the way to go, especially if you don't chase a lot. Only downside is a phone call will interrupt your connection, but it will automatically connect again after you hang up.

Another option is what I did this year: bought a cheap Verizon MIFI on ebay ($30) with a clean ESN. With no contract I got the $35/month-to-month plan (3GB/month data plan --- it's hard to use that much even). I activate at the beginning of the chase season (another $35) and then deactivate in the offseason. Plus with the mifi you can have 5 devices connected if need be. Tether is also a good option if you have an android or blackberry phone but I never had the best speeds using mine so I upgraded to the novatel mifi 2200.

US Cellular is another good option, $50/mo 5GB just grab a card off ebay... I think mine was $20 shipped brand new no contract

The Millenicom advanced plan is on the Verizon network ( same as purchasing direct from Verizon). The Unlimited plan is on the Sprint network ( same as purchasing direct from Sprint ) Millenicom is simply a reseller of the services and since they purchase in bulk they can give higher data limits . Also the office is in Oregon which has no taxes on Broadband Cellular.

Whats is the data coverage like with these pre-paid plans? - who has real world experance us using the plan all OVER the plains?

Many thanks Gordon - you have just saved me $1,000 (over 2 years) as I only need connection for May/June in any one year - not a new full blown $59/month/2 year plan from Sprint

I owe you dinner :)
