Since we are making it out to the plains early this summer, we deceided to invest in some equipment. Personally, I needed to refresh my camera. I had a Panasonic DMC-LC5 (4megapixels) that uses Leica lenses. I wanted to flexibility of being able to interchange lenses so here I am in the world of DSLR.

Now having a low budget I wanted to find the best bang for the buck and I have found it!!!!

SAMSUNG GX-1L DSLR
The Samsung GX-1L is a DSLR built in collaboration with Pentax. The lenses are designed by Schneider. It's a 6.1 megapixel camera that's compatible with the Pentax KAF lens mount. It has all the type of features that we are looking for like Bulb setting, Noise reduction, raw mode....

the construction is amazing. it's nice and solid. It doesn't have the plastic feeling of the lower end Canon DSLR. I just got my unit and I will play with it for the next couple of days to have a greater idea of it's mechanical and optical quality. From the reviews that I have read, this is one of the best (if not the best) entry level DSLR camera. You might want to consider the unit!
You can basicaly get this cam for between 350 to 400$ including the lens. That's a darn good deal!!!

Gaétan,

Keep us informed on this one. PM me for my e-mail. I would like to see a couple of full size pix taken with this camera.

Both my Canon 10D and Olympus E-10 have gone south and I may be in the market for a new camera soon. Depends on the repairs costs for the two.

Thanks!
