Phased array radar captures a tornado

Saw this on the SPC's Facebook page and found it very interesting. Seems the storms have provided one good thing and that is the ability to test the phased arrays abilities to analyze storms.

I'd love to see this in action, I wonder if the bubble around a radar is gone with it?

Are you referring to the cone of silence? That would still be present with MPAR, though it could be minimized depending on the final specs. Or perhaps you mean the radome? I've seen installs with it done either way, so we'll have to also watch the specs for that.

I think you meant "suck zone"

Considering the ARX NWS office most likely just got missed this past Sunday by a tornado then yeah, suck zone fits that ring well.
