• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Howdy,

Just received a Ultimeter 2100 for the B-Day and wanted
some input.

1. What software for displaying live weather data on the web is the best?

2. Cables are phone line style, how well do they hold up over time
and should I shield them on the house?

3. Will any RJ-45 to DB9 serial cable work for the PC connection?

4. Does regular modular phone line/plugs/jacks work with the sensors?

#3 and #4 Peet is hesitant to answer as they want me
to purchase their cables and I would rather get them faster
via local supply.

Any other tips or suggestions will be most welcome...

Thanks,

Tim

I have two 2100's and have used standard connectors, purchased and built, for the cables... Cat 5 works great for the long wire if you have the single cable boxes...

Weather Display is used by a lot of folks for Peet and other vendor's hardware. The following forum will get you to the info about the program. one time charge for lifetime use and updates...

I am not impressed with Peet's Weather Text software...

If you are a ham the Peet boxes are the only ones that are standalone APRS ready with no computer support needed. You will need a TNC of some description...

I have not used a serial to USB converter with the 2100...

BTW, I had the U2000 before the 2100's and have had good service with them since about 1998...

Peet, like Davis, is not commercial equipment but it is good amateur gear...

Thanks for the info. I am using WD now and might stick with it.

Sending data via the Internet to WUnderground and CWOP/APRS
and Weather Bug.

Made my own data/serial cable and working great!

Thanks

Tim
