• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I have been trying to find official tornado paths from the National Weather Service for some time now and have not been able to find them. I can find the major events, (i.e. Greensburg, KS tornado family here: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/crnews/display_story.php?wfo=ddc&storyid=7828&source=2) but I can't find data on the "less significant" events. Does the NWS make this data available to the public and if so, where can I find it? I am especially interested in May 5, 22, and 31 of 2007. Thanks for any help that you can provide! :)

Your best bet is to find an archive of products and then you'll be looking for 'Public Information Statements' that will have all of the information on that given tornado you are looking for. They might not issue maps or anything like that, but they will at least have information on where/when the tornado path is and what type of damage was incurred.

Send a message to the corresponding WFO -- they at the least have a folder with all the info from the day and if there's something they can email you it's a painless process.

I am still wondering where the write-ups on the May 4th/5th events are for damage surveys etc. I know they were complicated to sort out but wondering why there is this month delay on the release of this info. Pretty strange.

Usually if you go to the NWS website of the local NWS office and check their news, they usually post the paths, estimates, and damage photos along with the news story. At least this is how NWS FSD does it.

DDC has posted a good deal of information on the may 4 event. The damage maps they have produced are some of the most in-depth and detailed i have seen posted by any NWS office. I have a feeling that when the final information is released it will have been worth the wait.
