• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

:D A new chase season is starting and so I thought I'd post the link to the overlay I created last year that assists chasers with GPS and StreetAtlas to quickly bring up the phone number associated with the county warning area of the nearest NWS office. I just updated the document to reflect changes regarding the 'Advanced File Management' file download from Delorme. If you haven't yet set it up go to the link download the stuff and get happy. Instructions and download links are located at the following page:
NWS Phone Overlay Instructions and File Download Link

Also I am thinking of updating this to reflect new numbers I never got around to adding last year - thereby expanding coverage. I suppose we also need to peruse this numbers file and verify that it is still accurate too. Hmm....wonder how difficult an update would be?

Disclaimer: This phone number list was updated last Spring with the most current NWS phone numbers provided at the time; however no guarantees are made regarding accuracy. Use this list at your own risk. If you have an emergency contact 911.

Cool, thanks for the link.

On another note, does anyone know what ever happened to the "county" overlay someone created for SA? I believe it overlayed county names which are right now not visible. Hopefully someone remembers what im talking about.

The county overlay is also mentioned / linked from my page. The install is a similar process.

Is the SA file compatible with SA '06?

Sorry for the seemingly dumb question...I'm an SA noob.

I would think so. I haven't tested it, but it's just a draw file and I think Delorme uses the same tech in that regard.

I have just completed verification / update of this overlay for Street Atlas and for GR3 as a placefile. It's duplicate but thought I should notate this in the original thread which is about the topic.

If you use either of these please download the latest one so that you are assured / more likely to get working numbers. The old file had 3 changes since it came out for WFO's CRP, EPZ, OUN - those are now fixed.
