Someone I know, namely me, bought a Nikon D60 DSLR in July 2008, to start gearing up for his first chase in 2009. I took the camera out to Vegas for a "shake-down" run. The photos were great. Even Grand Canyon shots from 28K feet were not bad. As I am not an avid photographer, into hybernation the camera goes.
Time to wake up! Hurricane Ike approaches! Here in Louisiana, if you aren't in mortal danger, it's time to party (and maybe get some good storm shots). Electricity is out, refrigerators are emptied and the contents are thrown on the grill. Everybody has a jug of booze, or a bunch of beer sitting on the last pieces of ice that will be seen for days. All in all, one hell of a good time.
After three days, we get electricity, and a phone call to do aerial photo damage assessment. Where the hell is my camera? (I know ya'll got it by now, but at the time, I didn't.)
On the way to the airport I hit Best Buy, and flew a good mission with great results, with a brand-new D60.
Two week later my neighbor shows up with my camera.
