Nice new skin

Tim actually went ahead and upgraded the forum to the vBulletin Version 4.0, which was one thing that several folks specifically requested in the previously active thread regarding how to make Stormtrack better for 2011. It appears that this newer version has even more functionality, but it will take a day or so to get used to the new look for me. :)

Is there a handy list regarding the new features?

I'm still familiarizing myself with it this morning, so maybe Tim can chime in here with a more complete listing, but I can offer this read and also this page for starters. I do notice that the embed video/media icon above (when posting a message - next to the font icons) allows the following to be embedded within posts automatically now: Hulu, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Google and Facebook.

The new version does have many more tools, as well as the flexability of the administrator to decide which ones to turn on and turn off. There are also more options for moderators and admin level funtionality.

I don't like it right now, because I have to relearn to navigate and the look is soooo different. HOWEVER, I think I'll grow accustom to it. The layout looks intelligent enough...and my complaint is just mine because of sometimes I resist change. This certainly was the BEST time to do the change too, leaving plenty of time to work out the bugs before the chase season.

The important part is the content....and we seem to be doing well there...and getting better.

I think the changes are good, though it will take a bit to get used to it. I'm sure it won't take long to adapt.

I like the change - several forums that I use already use this skin (or something very similar) so no big issues for me getting used to things. Thanks for all the effort Tim (and anyone else involved) :)

I like the new look. Has anyone tried it on a mobile connection? I'll have to see how it does on the wireless datacard compared to the old forum.

EXCELLENT!
Does anyone know if this is the vBulletin Publishing Suite or just the updated Forum Classic?

Features here (but not compared to the old version): http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=features

From the little bit I've gotten to use the new interface, I definitely like the new look and features. I did notice that clicking the "Find all posts by..." for users does not bring up any hits. Maybe this functionality was broken in the upgrade, or its still being worked on? Some of the advanced search functionality was not working last night either, although I know there was a lot of maintenance happening then. How about the "thanks" feature? Is that gone?

I've got mixed feelings about it -- it gives me a little bit of a headache reading the content, which I think is due to smaller type and weaker contrast (too many grays and light blues), but the site as a whole has a bolder, sharper look. The dropdown menus look a little more classy, too.

At some point we can probably drop in some additional skins which each user can select according to personal choice.

Tim
