Announcing the soon arrival of a new weather photography sub-forum!

The idea had been talked about in the past but evidently got lost in the shuffle. A suggestion from John Olexa put it back on the table, and after a bit of discussion among the admins, it got a green light. Tim will be implementing it sometime within the next few days.

The forum is intended to give weather photographers a dedicated place to share their photos of all kinds of general, weather-related phenomena, to compare notes, and to otherwise talk shop. If you're into weather photography--and most of us here are to some degree--this should be a great place to hang out, particularly during the off-season for severe convection.

Please note: This forum is not intended to take the place of the Storm Reports sub-forum. Firsthand photos of recent severe weather events should go in an appropriate reports thread along with your description of the event. Stormtrack is primarily a storm chasing forum, and chase reports are an integral part of it. So be judicious when posting photos of tornadoes, wall clouds, and supercells. If they're from past events, or if your purpose in posting a recent photo is to discuss an issue of photography rather than a chase, then the new sub-forum is a good choice.

And of course, it's not the only option. You can still always post photos elsewhere, such as in the advanced or beginner's forums as part of weather-related discussions.

Rule of thumb: If your focus for a pic is on photography, post it in the photography section. If your focus is on weather, post your pic in a weather-centric discussion section.

Got it? Good. The new sub-forum will open for business soon. Have fun!

Excellent! This should be a great addition to Stormtrack. Photography was the primary reason I started storm chasing in the first place.

This is a great idea! There are many great photographers here.

This is great news, and has rekindled my interest in Stormtrack. I read Shannon Key's post and wish her and Tim the best in this trying situation and will patiently be waiting and looking forward to this new addition to the forums.
