New version of RadarScope is out

I doubt it...at least in the short term...but that's a decision for BaseVelocity to make not me :)

If/as soon as...someone builds a good radar app for Android I'll be happy to work with them to get SN integrated.

I would like to see something like this for the Blackberry Storm. Does anybody know of a good program that will work on the storm? I have weatherbug, but it is EXTREMELY slow and does not loop.

Just got my update. Radarscope is an amazing app and for $10 it is the best deal around, I'm glad I made the purchase.

Hello all..new member here. Just wanted to add that I also use RadarScope and think it's an excellant app for the iPhone.

For the ones who just can't get enough (that includes me), I found a way that is somewhat economic to have a larger screen.

If you have one of those portable DVD players (screen folds/rotates on the player and 12v DC), it can be used as a larger LCD screen for your iPhone. In a nut shell, most of the DVD players have a AV out/in jack (w/cables) and all you need is the RCA/AV cables for the iPhone. Just plug the cables in and you will now have a clear, larger view of the radar and information. You basically use the iphone as a "remote control" (i.e. panning, zooming, etc). I have a Zenith DVD portable player with a 7" widescreen. Works PERFECT for this app. Also by using the DVD players screen, they are generally diffused and have little to no glare. Keep in mind that RadarScope doesn't allow widescreen (landscape mode)...only portrait....BUT if you use other apps such as wxRadar, you "might" be able to view it in widescreen mode on the dvd player (as I know you can on the iphone..not sure how that works). Anyhoo...just something to kick around.

Matt :)

- SpotterNetwork position updating

may be some other ones I'm missing...

I'm probably the only chaser left who isn't on/doesn't use SpotterNetwork, but if I understand this to mean that you can see real-time locales of other chasers, couldn't you have a GPS position for yourself on this weather app as well?

I don't think the new rasarscope actually shows spotter network icons on the map the way the Gr3 overlay does - if it does, please correct me, as that'd be a handy thing to know. :)

Also, does anyone know a way to get GPS on an iPod touch? I know the touch doesn't come with a built in GPS, but will it interface with a Bluetooth puck? If radarscope had warning polygons and the touch interfaced with a Bluetooth gps, I could pretty much ditch my laptop during chasing, as I use a cellular to wifi router for Internet access. That'd free up a heck of a lot of car space and simplify the chase gear (and current draw) a lot.

*edit*. Just did some research and apparently if you jailbreak your iPod touch, there is an app available that will allow you to hook a Bluetooth gps up to your iPod touch. I might have to experiment a bit with this idea - again, I'd love a system where I could ditch the lapto and move to just a small iPod docked on the dash for data. I'd probably want to go back to paper maps or something since I doubt I'd want to rely on data connectiviy for mapping (though there are now some good if expensive mapping apps available), but this could be an awesome thing.

You might try inws the weather service has it out now here is the link http://inws.wrh.noaa.gov/

I use iNWS, I have it set to my GMail and I have a blackberry 8820 with GMAIL app and it helps me to stay alert. However, I'm in preparation to get my own iPhone 3G or 3GS depends how much money I have got. I would say iNWS is very useful and can be important asset for spotters and chasers and of course the EM.

Once I get my iPhone 3G or 3GS, I would get RadarScope on it in no time. :)

UPDATE!!! 11-25-09
Sorry, but I left something out....You will also need Apple's 2007 Universal Dock to make all this work together. Sorry for leaving that out.
