The BaseVelocity guys released the new version of RadarScope for the iPhone

new features:

- Composite Reflectivity
- VIL
- Echo Tops
- US Interstate roads
- City location markers
- Commercial data feeds for radar (eg: AllisonHouse)
- Current radar status indicators
- SpotterNetwork position updating

may be some other ones I'm missing...

Dang-a-lang! Almost makes me jealous for AT&T subscribers. Almost.

I mean, assuming you can get data, you can almost do away with the laptop while chasing anymore. You can browse webpages on an iPhone and now you can get great radar data via an app.

Tyler, how can we use Allisonhouse for the radar feed? I only see NOAA and one other as options.

Also, cut and paste from the app store:

What's new
The latest version of RadarScope includes the following:

- Added Spotter Network location reporting
- Added support for multiple radar data providers
- Added Composite Reflectivity raster product
- Added 248 nautical mile base reflectivity radial product
- Added Vertically Integrated Liquid raster product
- Added Echo Tops raster product
- Added current radar status when selecting a radar site (red button indicates radar offline)
- Added overlays for San Juan, Puerto Rico radar
- Added highways overlay for US.
- Added city location markers

I got caught with my pants down. We didn't think Apple would approve it so quickly so I wasn't ready. Hopefully early next week you'll be able to login to your AH account on your iPhone's web browser and click a link that will configure RS to pull from AH.

Just got the update; looks like it is working flawlessly. I'm currently indicated on the map near Norman per an update from my iPhone.
This is a killer app. If you have the iPhone and you are at all interested in weather (which you better be if you're browsing here), GET THIS APP!

I was playing with today, the spotter network integration seems to work great. Radarscope has evolved into quite a powerful radar viewer since I purchased it. Give me warning polygons and I may just start leaving the laptop home.

You can get an Ipod touch does the same apps as the Iphone.Just set up a wifi network in your ride up and use any network you want. The touch does not have gps but there's the tom tom cradle.
My touch will not update to 1.5 it only shows 1.4.Radarscope really works great can't wait to use it in action will free up lots of space.

RadarScope version number

Thanks to a typo when submitting the latest version of RadarScope to Apple, it shows up as version 1.5 in iTunes. The app itself shows version 1.4. We realized this soon after submitting it, but there was no way to fix it.

If your copy of RadarScope identifies itself as version 1.4, then you have the latest version. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused. We'll skip a beat and call the next release 1.6 to get everything back in sync.

Many thanks to all of you who have purchased RadarScope.

I think I can see where this is going. Picture what radarscope becomes if apple releases there rumored tablet. That's enough to make me hold off on buying a new chasing laptop for a litle while.

Michael,

I absolutely love RadarScope. I used it exclusively on my iPhone during the entire 2009 chase season. Hands-down, it's the best radar app available today.

I really like all of the new updates, especially the SpotterNetwork location reporting! As Brad has already mentioned, severe thunderstorm warning and tornado warning polygons are all that's needed to complete the entire picture. But don't get me wrong, this is still a fantastic app!

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication,
Bryan

I do like the app and the Spotternetwork integration. Has there been any though to include Spotternetwork reporting capabilities to this (or at least a way to bring up the reporting webpage with the position pre-filled in, similar to what occurs with the Windows client)? As it is, I still need to be running the Windows client to get that integration.
