New site for grlevelx placefiles

Not exactly a huge cache of place files but if you are looking to change the look and feel of GR they have plenty of things to help facilitate that.

Was looking for Day 2 and Day 3 placefiles. Call me a weather nerd but I love looking at those products in GR Level 3

Ah, I actually get them through AllisonHouse. Comes at a small cost but well worth it considering all the other great data they provide. Although no D3 outlines available unless that has recently changed.

Can someone point me to where I can download the placefile that shows all the highways and roads? Is that publically accessible? Thanks!

Hey James--- GRLevelXStuff has everything you need. Separate state shapefiles can be found here. They can be huge, so I'd recommend only loading the specific states you'll be in. Good Luck

Wes

Looks like they might have let the domain expire and somebody else grabbed it. GRLevelXStuffdotcom was last updated in the WHOIS database on 2/24/2014. The very first "post" on that casino site is 3/3/2014. Sad :(

definitely a disappointment. I tried this site also, but the .shp file for Ohio didn't work for me: http://www.redteamwx.com/grlevelx.html

I used to use the 2000 roads info by downloading county-by-county (whether MI, FL, CA, IN, or OH) where I was needing to drive while using radar, but now I can't seem to properly upload the new placefiles for roads. I used to be able to go here http://arcdata.esri.com/data/tiger2000/tiger_download.cfm but the link is dead, and now I tried downloading a whole Ohio roads .shp file from here http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/geo/shapefiles2010/file-download but it doesn't seem to get properly recognized because "o" records show when I use the placefile loader. I have no idea what's the issue. I tried using both the old tigerroads.sty file and the 2010 one to match up with the more recent .shp files, but still getting that there are "0" records--the bunch of files that fills in with a proper upload just isn't working with these new files. Any thoughts on what to do?

The guy that ran GRLXStuff for the last few years has been under the weather for quite some time now from what I understand. The files available at RedTeamWeather work like a champ for me. Have you double checked that places is ticked off under the GIS menu in GRLX (I believe)?

Mods might want to remove links to the compromised site from this thread. They could be a virus risk, and if anything it helps the spammers/squatters get traffic.

That's a good idea, Dan.

MODS?

FYI: I volunteer to write a MySQL alter statement that will send the link to an explanation page on your site if you are okay with sending me a few sample rows of your database which contain the links.
