On just about every other Vbulletin based site that I am a part of there is a "NEW POST" button in the above selection tool bar that also has "USER CP", "COMMUNITY", "CALENDER", etc...

By clicking this it makes it very easy to see what all has been posted since your list visit as it will pull up every thread that has at least 1 new post in it. Its much easier than just visiting each individual forum section to see what was posted.

I just thought it would be a nice addition that other members as well as myself would appreciate having. It makes posting/reading a little easier & convenient.

It would be easy to add as there should be a selection box for options in that bar in the Vbulletin Admin settings.

What do you think?

We have it, and it's currently available. Don't know why you can't see it, but maybe a Mod knows why.

I'm guessing it's because he's a new member to Stormtrack and has been placed in another usergroup. What happens when you go to this link? That link should show a list of the new posts you are accustomed to seeing on other Vbulletin powered forums.

The "new member" group probably has search functionality disabled by accident, which might have happened during the server upgrade. We'll see if we can get Tim to fix it.

I get this:

Your account does not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Some heavily-moderated boards on Stormtrack (namely Target Area) do not allow posting permissions for new users. These privileges are automatically granted after 30 days.
2. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. This can happen if you are trying to edit someone else's post or access administrative features.
3. An administrator or moderator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Its never been there since I signed up so im assuming its a user group setting as Bobby said. I know on the 2 forums I am a part of running we have different settings for different user groups. Stuff that changes after like 25 posts. I didnt know it was there or I wouldnt have posted.

Ill just have to wait 30 days. No biggie. :)

Thank you for offering to look into it though Skip I appreciate it.

I'll take a look at it tomorrow. If the search capability of new members is different from that of longtime members it's unintentional and we need to fix it.

Tim

Is there some reason why the list of new posts clears itself after a short time. It seems as if a “Mark all posts as readâ€￾ kicks in if you don't get to all the posts in time.

After a certain number of minutes the posts are no longer considered "new" even if they are unread. If you use your back button to get back to the list of new posts instead of clicking "new posts" again when you are done reading a post, you should still be able to see the same list you started with and go through all the unread new posts.
