• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New EVDO - HSDPA Router

What exactly is the deal with something like this? Do you buy an access account through the router company, or can you use a Sprint or Verizon account? If you use a phone company account, will this thing still work when you are out of that company's coverage area?

Thanks in advance for helping me out with this.

You have to have an active card with one of the evdo or hsdpa carriers. You insert the card in the router. The router than distributes the signal as Wi Fi so multiple computers can use the internet connection instead of just one.

Works the same but the active device is the card so you can use just in your laptop or share the connection through the router. And the price on this unit rocks . I should have mine in a few days. I am really excited as up till now only Top Global units worked on both EVDO and HSDPA other units on the market just work on EVDO. And this unit blows them all away price wise.

Ok. So this is different than the new in car wi-fi setup discussed on another thread, which sounds more along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

Unlike the Linksys WRT54G3G-ST I use (EVDO only), it's not clear to me that the firmware is upgradeable. If so that's a little iffy with a new unit, since I think even the Linksys unit needed a few upgrades to eliminate bugs and performance issues, and to handle newer Rev. A cards. Other than that it certainly sounds like a great price for EVDO/HSDPA.

Got my unit today . Had it up and working in minutes. Very impressive unit and small 5 inches by 5 inches by 1 inch .And that price blows everyone away. Spoke to tech support and yes there will be firmware upgrades offered when new devices come out.
