• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

This looks like it would be a great station for a roof-mount for those that are or would like to use a VantagePro product. Nice new compact design, and at a much lower price makes it a front runner for that option I think.

As far as home weather station use I don't think it is too much better given the idea that the whole sensor suite has to be mounted at the same height, meaning either wind speed at 6' or temperatures at 30' would not be ideal.

No information on the Davis site at the moment, but information is on Ambient Weather and a few other websites:

Also... While we are on the subject of Davis weather stations, does anyone know if there is another option of getting the console connected to a PC without purchasing weatherlink software? Not looking to purchase that software for $120 when there are other programs that can do what I need if connected to a PC for free. Thanks

By the look of the instrument pack, marine use is likely the target. I'd be curious what the actual dimensions are, as it may be a little too compact to get proper direction readings, and speed. But it also may (and likely) use the standard (small) cups, which sacrifice some low speed values versus being stronger for high wind readings.

Will investigate later, but I have my station set and done...and working well.

The problem with the Davis WeatherLink software is that although it's pretty crappy compared to Virtual Weather Station and some others that DO work with Davis, you still need to buy it to get the 'Data Logger' which is this very small piece of hardware that you install either inside the Console or the Envoy if you have that... and it comes out with a little USB adapter to connect to your PC. Without buying the software, you don't get this data logger/usb adapter, unless you can find it stand alone online somewhere.
