Howdy all! I am Waylon. I'm a new chaser and was wondering if anyone could provide some forecasting advice or learning videos?
Im based out of Texas, just north of Houston. I've bought 2 rm young anemometers and plan on working on a NSSL Style mobile mesonet and a mesonet tower.
Any Idea's y'all can share are greatly appreciated and AMA, I'd be happy to share.

Another good list of learning resources, updated recently, can be found on another thread: https://stormtrack.org/threads/a-list-of-learning-resources.33299/

There's also tons of older threads on this site dealing with the same topic that you can find by searching "learning resources" or something similar. Many of these threads are older but convective forecasting hasn't changed much since the threads were posted.

Don't chase alone, if you have any questions you can pm me, but I'm putting together a team, but a few questions I was asked when I started are these and I have the same for you. first, can you tell me what might be your focus? Are you wanting to just chase in the truck? Are you looking to stream? Where do you plan to spend the most time chasing(home state or all over)

Well, I want to chase mainly for research. Understanding its not truly possible for a nobody like me to do so, I am enrolling at OU this fall, so plenty of room to chase. I wouldn't mind streaming whilst chasing, though that is not the main point of what I want to do. I don't think I'll be buying the truck you have up as uh, I don't have that kind of money, but yeah.. I plan to chase all summer before I enroll at OU, and I'll mainly be instate I think, so here in Texas. I may go out to Louisiana and Oklahoma if I really see a day with potential, but that's for a later date... I have begun working on my sensor array for my NSSL style mobile mesonet. I have acquired my anemometer and data-loggers, but am holding off on temp, pressure, relative humidity, etc untill I have enough money to buy them all at once. Thanks, and if you have any other questions dont be afraid to ask!

Those are some nice goals, a lot of them match mine actually, I did sell the truck and went to buy a newer one same day! its a 2024 dually I bought. but I do plan on getting more as the amount of money built up get bigger and all. Again I am offering spots to people to chase with me whenever they want. any questions you can feel free to ask, I do have another question, what does your setup look like currently, if you could provide pictures that'd work too. me personally would put a computer mount on the dash so its not taking up too much room in the passengers area as well as putting the cameras for streaming in the corner of the windshield, I'd also have a dash-cam just to be safe.

Hah, I really don't have a setup right now, I'm beginning on ensure all instruments work. I started testing last night, but I need to buy a few 12v power cables and strip them to power the dataloggers. I have a pretty rare truck, which kinda will suck to chase in due to rarity. It's a 2003 Sierra Quadrasteer Denali. I'm not sure many companies made mounts and stuff.
Also, I'm interested in the team you mentioned. Can you send me a pm with all the info?
