• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New chase car

Just keep the music cranked up and the sound waves should provide a protective barrier. Looks sweet, Doug-- and may get a bit better mileage than your van. What kind of MPG is that suppose to get?

I actually HOPE I run into some big hail right away. (Playing the old reverse psychology trick on Mother Nature)

Be interesting to see if that Sunroof holds up.

Speaking of new chase rides, personally the next vehicle I buy will be 4 wheel drive; that being said for those willing to sacrifice 4 wheel drive, look into Dodge Magnums. We rented a vehicle for Sun-Mon chase and must say for a 2 wheel drive chase vehicle its quite impressive. Plenty of space for equipment up front, the foot room is as good as full size trucks, it's easy to get in and out of, and the hatchback makes for quick access and storage of gear. The dash is long and flat, the camcorders sat up there in perfect place, no need for a dash mount, I could even set the laptop up there with the screen open. The battery is in the back, which works great for hooking up the inverter and other electronics (no fire wall to deal with). I'd say those looking for a car to chase in, the Dodge Magnum is a great candidate.

Doug not sure if your Civic has the same issue as my Accord, which is that the area in front of the passenger seat (just below the shifter) is not level, and did not appear to be steel. You can see in the pic where the floor raises right by the base of the mount. If so, attached are some pics on how I fashioned something to install to the seat bolts. I used a cut down piece of pressure treated wood and replaced the seat bolts with a 3" bolt. I had to use several washers on each side to get a snug fit so the seat would not rattle. I then attached the mount just outside of the bolt. There is enough room for a passenger and it quickly disconnects if need be. BTW, I think you'll like the MPG. With almost 50k on my 05 Accord, I average over 30mpg.

(my thanks to fellow ST'er Chris Strahan for the mount!)

you must be out of your mind to do that to a new car...what did you win the lottery!

Whatever floats your boat! Your install looks good!

Thanks.
I have been doing this long enough to know what I want. I drove the car for 1000 miles and LOVE it. I cant see any reason to not want it, so why wait till its older to do what will make me more happy with the car?

New car = long life chase vehicle

Obviously reselling the car isn't an option for you. I don't blame ya for going the new car route. This way you'll have a reliable chase vehicle, for years to come. No rebuilding every few years when the "old beater" runs out of steam.

I personally like trying different vehicles. Just get bored with the same car year after year. So I go the used route....and also dedicate a chase vehicle, then have a daily driver.

I drive my cars to the dirt. Last van had 200800 when I bought this car, and the car b4 that was a 95 neon that I put 214000 on. I am hoping to get over 300000 with this car. From what I hear about Hondas, that is not unrealistic.
