Okay, so I'm shooting with a Canon XHA1 in HDV format. 1080i HDV recording, and I'm trying to find a reasonable solution for capturing my video and being able to send these video clips via email or upload to a server, so the TV station can use them.

Obviously, time is always a critical thing. Right now, I'm using Sony Vegas to capture my video. Problem is, Sony Vegas captures and saves these clips as .m2t files, which are incredible HUGE. The quality is great, yes, but imagine trying to send 20 seconds of video that amounts to about 50MB or more! Doesn't work trying to email or upload to a server.

Anyone have suggestions on a good quality HDV capture solution, that doesn't make a file 100+ MBs in size ???

Thanks in advance !!!

That's a good question. I have been downconverting in camera, then capturing in DV and editing in Premiere Pro before uploading. As for HDV, I have heard of people using Quicktime (something called a H.264 Codec) for HDV upload. I have never tried it as my computers are too slow, and I don't know about file size.
