Finally got my video from 03/28/07 uploaded to YouTube, it can be viewed at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_5deIVMBLU

Please keep in mind that I was tired, chasing by myself and it was windy out so the video may be shaky at times and I do get excited :D

Video was shot in southwestern Nebraska around 10 miles north/northwest of Grant. EF rating is unknown and fortunately it was out in the open country and didn't cause any injuries.

Good job with the tornado Craig. I know that night chasing can be a bit frightening, especially when you are by yourself. I'm sure your call was very well appreciated by the NWS, especially since it was at night.

I know that saying "tornado on the ground!" is "uncool" and I did say it quite a bit in this video LOL but I just can't help myself sometimes! :D Thanks for the great comments guys!

"I Bagged it" - love it.

Come to think of it, "I bagged it" is a great name for a chase video. Might want to consider it ;)

Good work catching the elusive night tornado.

I think the issue with 'tornado on the ground' is because we as chasers so often see funnels and other phenomenon approximating tornadoes that never quite make it to ground. We are always anticipating this contact because when it occurs we have our grand prize - a tornado. So, even though it is redundant I'd say it is quite natural to get excited and say 'tornado on the ground'. When speaking with the NWS it may also be done to signify and underscore to them that what you are seeing is indeed a tornado and not just a funnel cloud as it is 'on the ground'. With all that said, maybe you did say it once or twice too many times out of excitement. :D But it is cool and good that you are excited about tornadoes. As chasers, that's a lot of what it is all about...loving the quarry you pursue. Nice night catch and yes, I'm sure the NWS appreciates the report.

I've 99.9% trained myself to say "tornado in progress" over the past few years, but I still have slip-ups. I blame it on all the old NWS spotter training films.

Hey nice video Craig! It's pretty cool to see a tornado filmed at night, with only it's silhouette visible in the flashing lightning. Adds a bit of mystery and scariness to the whole thing.

Indeed, a tornado at night is a whole other world... and when you see that tornado being illuminated by the lightning it is almost enough to send chills down your spine.

Posted my video on YouTube as you all have seen and have had mostly awsome comments but today I did get one very negative comment attacking myself and my video, the person used "chaser lingo" and had to make a fake YouTube account to attack me, so here's another BIG thank you for all of you who liked my video etc. and IF the person/persons who posted that "attack" are a member here and see this feel free to private message me I would LOVE to talk to you :) ...The comment has been removed and the person blocked :D

Glad to see the vid finally Craig, at the beginning of the vid were you talking to me on the phone or who were you talking to? You said something like "report it in" and "report it to the NWS". I remember talking to you that day but dont remember what point of the day it was.

Either way sweet night time video!

Hey Craig,
Thanks for posting that, it's always erie to see a tornado at night only illuminated by lightning. March 28th was absolutely amazing in terms of how early in the season it was and how far west the outbreak was. I suspect it'll be a long time before we get an event like that again (thankfully for the people of Holly, CO and the Texas panhandle!)

Was that the storm that went on to produce the wedge near Ogallala, NE?

The wedge(s) happened just before that tornado, near and south of Grant(last one moved just west of town).

What a day, not only in NE but the entire plains, it was a blast just see my avatar; though after chasing night time tornadoes moving 50mph on pure mud roads with a friend on his very first chase I was a little exhausted. I just uploaded some of the video I shot that night to youtube. By the end of the night not including the video I used for the day time tornadoes, I used up about a 90min of video and for almost all of it there were tornadoes on the ground, they just stayed on the ground for that long. Unfortunately I still had my old video Camera (Actually was the last day I used the old Camera as I bought a new one after this Chase) so being at night much of the video is nothing more than audio of me being excited, some where along the way I messed with the settings thinking I was making it better but actually only rendered the picture useless, still fun for me to watch though, as it allows me to relive the excitement. For those who are really bored here is about 90 min of my crap footage condensed into a quick 3 min.
