I'm one of 6 finalists in a NatGeo photo contest sponsored by Chase (fitting). The winner gets a trip for two on a NG photo expedition in South America and will be decided by votes from the public so if you could, click on this link and vote for your favorite, whichever that may be:

My photo "The Icemaker" is of the storm that dropped the world record hailstone on July 23rd in South Dakota. I goofed up and accidentally and entered the more natural/ less contrast-enhanced version of the photo into the contest, but oh well. You can see more of this storm at this link: http://www.chasethestorms.com/july23

I voted for your photo. Not because I know you, because I don't. But your photo really is my favorite one in the whole bunch. Good luck Chad, I hope you take this prize.

I would vote for your image, but I can't bring myself to go through all the crap you have to do to register to even see the page!

Chad, I voted for your photo not because I know you, but because I just love this photo!! The motion blurred foreground and antenna just add so much for me to a stunning background storm.
I will let you buy me a beer though for this vote :)

A big fat THANK YOU to all who have voted so far... thanks to you, I'm in first place!

Chris- I kept the antenna in just for you :) And I don't think I can technically buy you a beer for your vote (bribe?) but I might accidentally leave one, or six, next to your camera bag this May.

I know what you mean, Darren, and I wish it wasn't like that but I guess this is the best way to avoid voter fraud. They should definitely have a landing page though where you can see the finalists without logging in. By far the easiest way to vote if you don't already have a NatGeo account is to just use the "login using other accounts" option like Facebook, Google or Yahoo.

Here is my competition, there are some really good ones:

Thanks Jarrod!

Nicholas- for some reason that landing page is loading very slowly, consistently. I'm not sure if it's something they're doing to avoid voter fraud or what, but all of the other pages on NG are loading really quickly. I'll see if I can get some info on that. Thanks for trying.

Ok so I went to vote for you and when I got to the page it said I voted for Dust Dance [which I obviously didn't] and says I can change my vote but when I click the link it doesn't work. I sense a rigged election so be wary! Good luck man I hope you get it.

Were you on a publicly accessible computer (like in a computer lab or library or sumpin?). It is possible that the poll is cookie-based and somebody used that computer to vote earlier.

Now that is really odd. I'll send my contact an email with that info and try to figure out what's going on. In the meantime you might want to try clearing your cookies and cache and trying again. Thanks for voting and sorry for the hassle!
