Good day all,
I was not sure where to post this, so MODS can move it if they need to.
NASCAR is in full-swing this week (from October 3rd onward) and anyone considering a storm chase trip may be affected by it.
Motels and hotels, especially in places like Kansas City, Omaha, and Oklahoma City are literally tripled for their rates (very much like how they are during spring break down south).
Car rentals, if you can find one, will also be VERY expensive. Flights too.
Just a warning and something to consider in case the fall season kicks it up a notch. I was chasing last week, and a car rental at Kansas City was $280 for 3 days (about 3 times what it normally is, for example). My flight was free (I had airline miles for it), but had I paid for it it would be $890.
By mid october 2009, the prices should return to normal.
