Most miles traveled on a bust?

Sorry, I should clarify that "our" in that last paragraph should be Iowa, since I'm a year and a half removed from Lubbock. :)

As Craig said most of "blue sky" bust days have been right here somewhere in IA. Otherwise the farthest Ive had to go for a bust day is just South Dakota or Nebraska. Not too bad.

I talked to Reed about our great state of Iowa and even he said he can't ever get anything here. It's as fickle and unpredictable as Florida here. If I recall correctly, there was an almost total mod-risk day bust here in May or something, Ames or closeby was circled. Nothing came, not a drop, except to extreme southern Iowa and northern Mizzou.

LOL, yeah I think I go through at least a couple MOD risk busts every year up here. Maybe not necessarily blue sky busts but still busts. I almost dread having a backyard chase anymore its gotten so bad....

After a number of busts in Iowa this year  I will be much more cautious next spring :D

June 6, 2007 - Bolingbrook, IL to Taylor, NE. 1558 miles. We were under a tor warned storm with a nice RFB, but it never got its act together. This chase helped quench the burning desire to get out there again that had turned into a raging forest fire after this otherwise great year. You need a good bust to mellow things out by the end or else SDS hits you all that harder.

October 22, 2004 - Bolingbrook, IL to Storm Lake, IA. 1130 miles. My furthest blue skies, cap bust.

I suppose my highest mileage bust was just generally May 2006 - 4500 miles to DFW from London, and 4500 miles back again (and about 6000 miles of driving in the US)! We saw a few severe storms, but nothing of much note - however, saw plenty of AZ, UT, and CO, which was nice.

Well it technically wasn't a bust but...

June 12th, 2005. I missed the June 9th event because I was burnt out from chasing for a month with my friend from England. After I sent him off, I was determined not to let another day like that slip away so the night before I left from just outside Minneapolis at 10pm and drove down to meet up with Darin Brunin and Mike Peregrine in Lawrence, Kansas. Overnight MCS basically mucked up the Kansas target area so we ended up going south into Texas. Between getting caught up in early convection in Oklahoma, getting pulled over by THP and overall reluctance by everyone to keep heading further and further south, we ended up missing the dozens of tornadoes people counted that day by about a half an hour. We got there in time to see the storm basically gust out and die at sunset. Still a pretty storm but kind of a bummer to miss all the tornadoes.

Overall trip mileage - Chaska, MN to Stamford, TX - 1,038 miles in about 21 hours (10pm to 7pm) and of course, the 1,038 mile trip home for a total of 2,076 miles.

The one that Hurt the most was May 11th 2007 and about 1,700 Miles to a Montana Bust and Back! 848 Miles from Perry (Ok) to somewhere near the MT/SD Border. Also got a Speeding ticket in Nebraska along the way when the nearest car was about 2 miles away (Bored Trooper near Madison)
