Hey everyone :), I thought that I would give you guys a heads up, on a new video that has been added by "Anticyclonic" on youtube, she creates music and other video clips from archive and other significant tornado footage and does a great job too :)

The reason though that I'm mentioning this, is the video clip of the F5, as it's just coming into moore, at around 4:45, the video clip shows a suction vortex coming out the side of the tornado itself, and I thought that it would be cool to show you guys, and also to ask you guys if you have ever seen footage and/or tracked a tornado, that had suction vortices coming out horizontally like this before, other than May 3rd? :)

I look forward to your replies and if possible, please give a rating for the video :)

All I can say is, WOW. There is some video on there that I've never seen before. That horizontal suction vortice is incredible. Definitely one awe inspiring event. Thanks for sharing the link.

Thanks Brandon :)

I forgot to mention, that the video clip of the horizontal suction vortex, was part of the main video footage of the event, the day after the disaster, when it was shown here on the UK News networks, and that clip of the horizontal vortex has stuck in my memory since.

I'm going to have a look around to see if I can find other tornadic video footage with horizontal voorticies like this, but the amazing thing about the Moore F5, was by how quickly the suction vortex formed and then disipated again :)

yeah it was shown extensivley on all the US cable news networks as well. the voice over is annoying in my opinon

Really liked it, and the music was good to start with with, but lasted to long, but all in all....awesome video, and i actually DID like the special effects.

Looks to me like someone used the KFOR TV (OKC) tape which was produced in the weeks after the storm and sold to raise money for the victims. Some of the tape in this is clearly KFOR tape and, at times, you can hear some of the sound effects KFOR used in the background of theirs.

The point of my post is that people need to be very careful about using what may be copyrighted material.

Either that, or else the footage havs come from the same source for both videos, or it's been shared footage, but either way, it is another example, of just how destructive the 5/3/99 F5 really was.

Has anyone else got any pics or footage of tornadoes that have had this similar pheonominon, of Suction vorticies piercing the debris wall of the tornado, and streaming out like that in a similar way? :)

I do know that I remember seeing a video clip of the Red Rock tornado '91, and at 1 point in the footage, there was a horizontal vortex peering out :)

What I'm wondering is, is it possible, that a brief internal downdraft (Breakdown bubble) comes out through the base of the tornado, in such a way, that it comes out at 1 particular directional point of the funnel, but in such a way that it kinda scoops the air outward, but at the same time, not interfering with the tornadoes rotation and outter updraft, that it forces a suction vortex to go horizontal? :)

I look forward to your thoughts and views on this :)

If you watch closely immediatly prior to when the horizontal vortex became visible, it appears as if a small vertical vortex forms at the edge of the condensation funnel and then goes horizontal.

Is anyone versed on the mechanics as to what is believed to cause this phenomena?

i thought it was very shakey and dark the first section of the video...horizontal-suction vortex?

i never seen nothing like that before...didnt like the music to it very much, and didnt like how they slowed the video down...i wouldent put a song like that to people dying and whatnot...

omg :) lol, I didn't notice this before, but not only is there the very brief vertical suction vortex, (Well spotted, John), before it goes horizontal, but also, if you look directly above the horizontal vortex, just as it's forming, you'll see that there's also another horizontal suction vortex, but it lasts about 1/3 the time span, then the other one does :)

That really is sweet footage :)

Great footage, although getting sick of the 'lost moore tornado footage' line used.
Sometimes effects and music add to a clip, I think it did there, esp if your taking alot of different clips and putting them together.

Yeah :) lol, I have found myself getting fed up with that particular footage also :)

I must admit though, the footage of the horizontal suction vortices, and the footage that Jeff Piotrowski filmed, (When he had gotten too close to the F5, it was crossing the highway and going into Moore, right in front of him) was probably the best footage of that tornado :), but there is other great footage out there too :)
