Hi!

I have filmed a waterspout (or tornado) here in Montreal 2 days ago. It's not clear if it was a waterspout or a tornado, but anyway, it was over St.Laurent River. A waterspout anyway is less frequent than a tornado in Quebec. It was awsome to be able to film the twister AND the olympic stadium at the same time! :-)

I have filmed the full life of the tornado. Here is just an clip extracted from the full video, for the news.

Eric, that's very impressive footage. Great catch!!! From other videos, it does appear to be a waterspout. I think it is probably a tornadic waterspout but I have no radar or other data. Were you chasing or did you film it by accident? Was severe weather predicted? I would have enjoyed seeing a waterspout when I visited Montreal a few years ago.

Thanks!

Well, In the last 2 months, I have drove thousand of miles while stormchasing and I think I have seen only one little funnel cloud.... and it's in front of the window of my office that I finaly see a waterspout touchdown! ahah Pure luck, here... with help of my knowledge of cb because there was big cloud structures building and something that has the look of a rotating wall cloud... so, I began to film it. And the funnel has appeared 3 or 4 minutes later.

A tornadic waterspout seems to be right. I think it's very possible.

And guess what... no radar!! The Mcgill Radar for Montreal is down for repair...

8 minutes later, another "waterspout" has touched down 40 miles away, north of Montreal, in Lanoraie. It is very, very unusual for Quebec to have 2 tornadoes or waterspouts on the ground at the same time at to different places. And the Lanoraie waterspout has a big, very big wall cloud and was very violent for a waterspout.

Here's the video of the event in Lanoraie:

One of the most famous meteorologist here in Montreal has said that in 30 years of carreer, he has never seen of heard about a waterpout like that near Montreal.
