Hi

So I'm making weather site and my current plan is to have so much wx data on it that you could find in other places but would have to search around for and all of the data will be on this one site ( mine ). Although most of the data you could find other places I would like your opinions : What would you want my new site to have that other weather sites dont have that would make you frequent visitors? I've got a few ideas but I want as many as possible from the Stormtrack community.

Thanks!

It will be tough to compete with a number of other excellent sites out there Nick, but that doesn't mean you can't do a good job of it.

Some ideas:
- make a site that YOU need to keep informed..more likely to be relevent
- make the site easy to navigate; organize links logically
- keep on top of dead links, a sure turn-off for visitors
- don't try to include every link possible; too much clutter
- consider catering to mobile needs; low-bandwidth access or access from smartphones etc.

Good luck!

Yeah, he did it already, we all gave him a pat on the back and he never acknowledged the thread after post #1.
Nick, don't waste your time reinventing the wheel. My advice: Go read everything else that others here and elsewhere have put together so that when you get out of school, you will be a positive contribution to the hoards of chasers on the plains.

The biggest bit of advice I can give you is to make a real contribution here before you start plugging your own weather sites. It seems that up to this point your only objective has been to tout your website whenever the opportunity arose. It is very ambitious of someone so young to want to step up and serve the community but the fact of the matter is there are already plenty of other sites that do the same thing, and they are ran by men and women with very expensive degrees and years of education and experience in the field.

My thoughts

I'm pretty sure I'm much younger then most of you think but to me that matters very little - what matters is that we're all chasers and enthusiasts that love weather. I think stormtrack is a great weather source and I don't want to spam it up for my own reasons. In case your interested I'll post a new thread when the site is done but if you dont want that any of you can tell me. I actually forgot about that thread and I am very very thrilled after reading the responses to it. I'll try to become a more valued member of Stormtrack. Forgive me if I have left any hard feelings.
