Live streaming site

I see alot of post on this site asking about streaming software. I used http://www.ustream.tv this past Sunday on my edge ATT connection 150K and it was flawless. All I had to do was plug my video cam to my laptop and I was streaming in minutes .


I had trillian up for IEM chat and GR up for radar images and I had near flawless video and I was using the max settings with no audio. James

It's 100% free for now and I am not sure about being able to make private

On the Upstream page, go to the bottom left and click Help Center. Then type the question in the top right "Can a broadcast be made private." It tells you how in the next popup.

"If" I am reading it correctly, it can be done.

USTREAM is great as we use it to show LIVE radar data during severe outbreaks. During this time we examine severe storms for severe signatures, 3D Shear, tight gradients and such utilizing GR3.

So far no issues at all. Yes you can make it private as well.

Been playing with it and it works great with my Philips SPC890NC USB web cam.
I've been looking for a way to embed ustream in my website with some code but I can't seem to get anything but a 404 error past the front page of the ustream site since after my first trial run.
Anyone else getting this error and does anyone know if they offer code under that "Sharing" tab?
Looks like a nice service. Kinda like youtube, I have to wonder who on Earth foots the bill for such a service - but then I think about what happened to youtube and figure Google is probably already knocking at the door with checkbooks open.

Got mine up too after I figured out I did something wrong which caused the 404 errors (see my previous post).
I ended up embedding a live shot at HamWx looking out of my office window.

I have used this service too...As I have had conversations with another streamer, the simple set-up is tempered by the wording in the TOS....anything that streams thru ustream.tv servers becomes their property....so if you get great shots of wx...and it streams, ustream.tv will do with it as they see fit...and as you can imagine, that includes selling it...

The other problem I have encountered is that beautiful logo in the upper right corner...

We have launched SevereStreaming... a Windows Media streaming service.

It's not quite "plug and play" like Ustream, but there's no annoying logos all over your video, and we won't steal your video and re-sell it in Zimbabwe.

Also, our servers won't be overloaded due to other streams that are not chasing-related. SevereStreaming is built BY chasers, FOR chasers.

Ustream is a good service to use, but if you shoot an amazing weather event and want the rights to it yourself, that is no longer in play. Everything streamed through the site gives them the rights to the footage. I have been playing with windows media encoder and streaming on streamwebtown. The encoder gives you many options such as what fps you want to stream at. The free service is shut down and turned back on every 6 hours but if you are just using it to stream chases, I see no problems. I will also be adding an account to www.severestreaming.com and trying that out .
