"Just the maps ma'am...just the maps" (Cell/Data)

Figure I'd make a quick reference type thread regarding the different coverage maps. We can discuss how accurate they are, the difference between services, etc. I'll try to keep the first post updated with the most current info, be sure to see the "edited on XX/XX/XXXX" at the bottom to see if & when I added updates.

These maps are are directly from the various providers of their service so it would not be a surprise to see a little extra "saturation" than is true-to-life.

I've been very impressed with Verizon's data coverage lately! Last year, I had a hell of a time along Hwy 36 all across Northern KS(spotty at best all the way from just west of St. Joseph, MO to Northwest KS). When I went to Denver for ChaserCon, I took Hwy 36 the whole way there just to test out and see if this "new coverage map" was accurate, and I'll be darned! It was amazing! I had RevA data speeds all the way from St. Joseph, MO to the northwest corner of KS where it dropped off to 1x or nothing at all til I got into Colorado. If I had to guess, I was without data for around maybe 30 minutes in that corner of KS. Not bad at all really considering the hell I went through last year trying to keep a connection!

Verizon has a few dead spots along highway 83. One big one is between Sublette and Liberal, where the river basin is. But the map shows it as solid red. I run an external antenna, so unless they have put up a new tower that is a big one. Another one is between Canadian, TX and Perryton in the hills. Maybe the "Can you hear me now" guy found them and fixed them.

One other map that wasn't included is U.S. Cellular map. USCC doesn't get mentioned a whole lot in here but its the 6th largest cell phone company behind the 4 mentioned above and MetroPCS. USCC roams off of Verizon so anywhere you have Verizon you'll have USCC for cheaper. I have been a USCC customer for as long as our family has had a cell phone (17 years) I even have the same cell number as my parents had when we first got the 'bag' phone. Anyway here is USCC's data coverage map.

The green is the 3G coverage, blue is 1X coverage, and white is no coverage, however another map does show 1X coverage in NW OK. I have been super impressed with coverage all across the country and many rural areas. Just because you get away from the interstate, doesn't mean you'll loose service.
