Is a Stormsof2009 Charity DvD in the works?

From what I recall, last year's project was a scramble to pull together the right players. I wonder if this year, the time that would otherwise have been used to produce a DVD under the pressure of a tight deadline might be well invested preparing for 2010. Next year's material could then be consolidated with a best-of selection from 2009.

Just a thought from a guy who hasn't twitched a muscle to make any of the previous efforts happen. But I'd be willing to get involved in the future on the editorial side.

I think the part everyone seems to be missing is the project has become more hassle than it's worth. Otherwise the original creators wouldn't have jumped ship after two editions. I guess I'm just an asshole, but these days I'd rather throw some money in a tin can than submit any more of my best chase video for no profit. The help this project generates only goes so far, and once its effects are over, our video is still out there being enjoyed with no profit to the chasers. I saw no increase in interest or sales despite how wildly-popular this series has become...because you ain't gonna sell what you give away for nothing. Sorry to be such an ass about it, but the economy ain't so grand, chasing ain't getting any cheaper, and I sure as hell ain't giving it up.

I helped in other ways on the 08 edition, which kept my streak of being involved with all the SO videos in tact.

Personally I think it's way too late for a 2009 DVD...being that you really need to have a DVD finished and ready to roll out by the start of October to maximize sales (holiday sales). No point of having a charity DVD if you don't sell that many.

Just a personal opinion.

Last year I think they came out around Black Friday so you still have time to take this project on, Jason!

I have enjoyed the series but expected a gap for 2009. Although there were a few decent events, this has not been a very good year. A poor chase season translates into a lack of materieal and enthusiasm for this type of project. The best course would be to forget about 2009 and plan ahead for 2010. Selected very good 2009 material can be added as a "bonus section" in the 2010 edition. The project gives good publicity for storm chasers.

I can't believe 2010 would be any worse than the current year.

I think adding chapters for 2009 is a good idea for next years DVD. Even though 2009 was not the best there was still a few events that could be added to the 2010 DVD. Thanks again for the update.

It has been my pleasure and honor to be involved in the Storms of 20XX series over the last few years. Like Mick, it's been a great ride, but it's been enough of one and it's time to let someone else take the reigns.

In the time I worked with it, basically, I had some small video contributions, mostly Voice Overs, and then the general audio setup on last years. I have met a few folks along the way and spoke to even more on the phone and over e-mail.

Again, it was a great time folks, but family life takes over at some point and I am asorry to say, I don't tink I will be involved in the future.

I hate to see it die out, but given the way things seem to go, it was inevitiable that it would happen.

Keep chasing! Don't look into the light!

S O series

Personally speaking, I really quite enjoy the SO series for both what it is, as well as what it accomplishes. It seems (in my experience) that the timeline to really begin an 09 edition may be short, and as others have suggested piggybacking supplemental material into a SO 10 sounds more practicable.

It's moments like this that I wish there were some way I could personally contribute or assist to the endeavor, however I don't possess any equipment or editing skills to be of any use IMO.

If there were a way I could help, I would. Hands down.

I really hope this will continue, if not only for the cause, but also as a good compilation/retention of weather events in a collection for posterity.

Sincerely,

Keith
