I did not see any mention of a stormsof2009 Charity DvD in the works and it is already October. Will the stormsof2009 Charity DvD be made this year or will it be skipped? Any replies would be apreciated.

I talked to Johnathan Brouwer about this topic about a month or two ago, and the short answer is no, but it will be back for 2010. I'm sure he'll chime in more on it.

I thought there was enough tornadoes for a video. The Goshen County WY tornado was one of the many tornadoes we had this year. April and June were both active months.

Thanks Ben for the information. Much apreciated.

The answer is no.

I have donated the profits amounting to $4120 to the American Red Cross for the 2008 dvd sales. It was a fun ride but I know I am not in a position to take on another year.

While certainly not putting the product down, because it is a great thing to see the community giving back. Overall, the video, commentary and editing left a bit to be desired. I know this wasn't trying to win any awards, and the footage (as a highlights tape) was great. However, it would be nice to see a more structured set-up where perhaps more editing and writing was done, and really push for national distribution. Certainly the direction I would go with it if I was involved.

I had an idea the other night as I was considering something for myself, how about a Storms of 2009 collector calendar? Following the same principle as the dvd project, voluntary image and/or information submissions specifically from 2009 which are then compiled into a calendar format and sold with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Red Cross or other charitable organization. All that the project would need really is a leader to accept material, a copy editor (Tim V?) and a well qualified graphic designer (that could be picked via election or lottery) to assemble it. Ultimately, for the person(s) who is/are chosen to design the final product, it would be a very nice addition to their portfolio(s). Sell them through lulu so there is no overhead and ultimately, the concept lives on even if the main premise is on hiatus for this year? Due to the types of imagery that members of this forum are known for getting, this product could easily rival those offered by other mainstream publishers.

I suggested lulu this just because it appeals to me but if there are different or better services then by all means...

Yeah! I vote for Jason to get involved in the project - maybe even head it up? Also, I vote Jason for MOD here on ST. Seems he has so many ideas and maybe the time to implement them that we all do not? C'mon man, lets go!

I personally think John and everyone else did a pretty good job last year. If you have time to criticize, though, it's time to step up to the plate.

It's a video of storms. What exactly is lacking as far as editing? Not enough MTV/Full Force Nature fast-forwarding-make a person vomit-editing? The ones I've seen seemed great to me.

Then get involved... If not then well...

I inquired a while back...never got a response!

I wasn't trying to put it down...more at some professional criticism to make the future editions that much better...isnt' that the point?

I don't recall getting anything from you but I could have overlooked it as well. Gods knows my choice last year for lead producer was not the best.

Regardless though, here is your chance to step up and help out.

I took no offence to your comment just making a point that you have the chance to make it a better project now.
