Interesting Time Lapse

I was viewing a site that Matthew Hartman linked to.

On the Fort Collins Co. Cam site, May 5th 2004 time lapse show many small vortices spinning up and down. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the dynamics of the situation that caused this? Is this common for the area?

I believe those are actually jet contrails. This area resides below the busy northwest departure gate for Denver International Airport. One would rarely see vertically-oriented vortices associated with the mid to high level mountain wave clouds shown in the time lapse.
