• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Interesting Supercell Sequence Caught on YouTube

I feel sorry for these non-chaser Joe Publics caught in this supercell in South Dakota - probably on the way to or back from the Sturgis Motorcycle convention in SD. It's a good video for new chasers to watch because it shows what can happen if you end up in the core of a HP Supercell - all the windshields bust out - etc... The video ends with one of the passengers taking cover in the trunk of the poor rental car. Video sequence that follows is part 1 through 4 respectively.

If Indeed this was a Sturgis related video, the timeframe of this would be sometime in Early August from the 3rd to the 15th of August.

EDIT: On research, this MAY have been the record setting hail producer in South Dakota of August 21, 2007. I'm not certain though.

EDIT II: This storm occurred on August 17, 2007 according to YouTube.

The video also claims in part 2 a Tornado was present somewhere in the area. I dont doubt that at all.

Pretty good video! Just wish it had been a chaser or spotter instead so we might have gotten actual storm 'structure" footage and maybe an up close shot of one of those hail stones.:D

Yes Craig, but if it was a chaser or spotter we would have to wonder how and why they got in the core in the first place! (And we'd certainly have quite the acount to read!) That poor individual would be takin' some ribbing LOL

These poor people were tourists from North Carolina who Im sure have NEVER been in a HP sup before - or any sup for that matter. I can only imagine their fear!

Even for someone who has an addiction to storms/storm chasing (myself:D)that would have been pretty darn scary! I'm just glad that they were not hurt and that their friends on motor cycles were able to find cover! (I think they had friends on bikes following them?)
