I bet you thought this was a continuation of the Hugo thread. :)

There is a storm picking up intensity today in the SWIO, noted as INDLADA on the NRL web page, and the latest JTWC advisory, #02A Corrected, notes:

JUSTIFICATION FOR CORRECTION: UPDATED STORM NAME TO INDLALA. ORIGINAL WARNING LISTED STORM NAME AS INDLADA DUE TO ERROR ON U.S. HELD NAME LIST.

Who knew (well apparently the WMO did as their document was correct, but one typo somewhere went a long way -- and reviewing the list there are some beautiful names that may be coming up: Katse, Panda, and Shyra, among others).

This TC has a large circulation and winds all day yesterday at Tromelin were steady above 20 kt.

What I did find amusing with this was when the advisory from La Reunion and the forecast track both had different spellings in them. They put it down to a typo on the WMO naming document sent to them.

Of note also is ITC Gamede set several world records (Coloured red below). The 10 and 15 day records, also held by the island, remain intact. The broken records are all from Hyacinthe in Jan 1980.

24 hours 1625mm (Record 1825mm set in 1966)

48 hours 2463mm (Record 2467mm set in 1958)

72 hours 3929mm (Record 3240mm)

4 days 4869mm (Record 3551mm)

5 days 4979mm

6 days 5075mm

7 days 5400mm

8 days 5510mm

9 days 5512mm

How about this -- the second developing TC in the SWIO this season to become annular at the end of an ERC:

Here's another good microwave that just came online (pink color shows convection):

Evng (CDT) update -- Not annular, after all: the ERC did not get much closer to completing prior to landfall, although intensity estimates increased. With landfall occuring, the TC structure is changing and you can see banding convection developing:
