Greetings! For the last several years, I've enjoyed my Texas Weather Instruments "Weather Report". Since the summer of '06, one sensor after another has failed. Just before the remnants of Erin came through in mid August... it signed off. I probably just need to have it serviced, but I'm thinking about having it replaced with a Davis Vantage Pro; wireless version. I have heard alot about Davis. Who here on this list owns Davis?
What do you like or dislike about their products? For me, the one draw back is that it measures wind speed every 2.5sec. whereas TX Wx instruments measures the wind every second.

I owned a Nimbus wind sensor at my lake home near Copper Harbor, MI. back in the early 90's.. that recorded wind every second as well. That would be my only complaint concerning Davis is that it records wind every 2.5 sec. How is the accuracy of Davis overall? And lastly... are their any other home based weather stations that you could recommend? I know of Rainwise and Oregon Scientific. And, what about RM Young??

Also... anyone within reasonable distance of Piedmont, OK. If anyone on this list has a little spare time, I may need help installing this when I receive my new station.. onless I decide to keep the one I have. I really prefer to go wireless as TX. Wx Inst. currently doesn't offer one as far as I know... I am about as mechanically inclined as my donkey:p, so any help will be appreciated majorly.

Look forward to some good advice.

I'm in the market for a weather station right now as well. Perhaps we should buy the same one and do the installs together... I'll monitor this thread for the resounding recommendation you are bound to get.

I'm running on an Oregon Scientific my wife bought me, but liked my old Davis better
-more frequent sampling
-lower minimum rainfall threshold

by all means, get the wireless, MUCH less trouble, don't have to worry about any lightning induced surges coming in on the data cable.
