Highest topped supercell chased...

Cirrus Splash - June 2, 2001

This one occurred in eastern Colorado, near or just over the Kansas border, near Syracuse, Kansas. I'm not sure how tall the storm was, but the splash extended way above the anvil.

I'd guess the base of the storm was somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 feet above ground level as the supercell slowly dissipated. The base had been considerably lower earlier.
 
To follow on the last post, it's not uncommon on the northern plains to get storm tops in the 50-60kft range for our summer activity.



Bill Doms was reporting a possible tornado during this time.
