Well, I decided to download GRlevel3 today. Installed it on the home PC (including the update) and...nothing. The program runs, and says that it is online, but there is no data. Not even the Spotternet or Oklahoma Mesonet data. Turned off the Windows firewall and all of the Avast system programs and still nothing. Tried it on the laptop...same thing. Tried a different internet connection (Alltel connection)...nothing.

Any ideas at all? It's like the program is not connecting to the internet. I really want to use this program, but it looks like it doesn't like me!

Hmm.. When you start the program, in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. It should say something like "Next Update X:XX" Sometimes, I will get a weird glitch, and it will say like Next Update 12424233:00.. Who wants to wait that long. lol...

Anyways, sometimes, if I start and stop the polling it will jump into action.. I am confused as to why you cant receive spotter network stuff though..

You should go to Jeff Snyder's Tornado Central Homepagehttp://www.tornadocentral.com and see if you can get any data from the placefiles. If not, I would say you have a larger problem, likely with a firewall, blocking TCP/UDP ports.....

It keeps "updating" and goes to next update 1:00 and counts down, but it doesn't update. Also, the arrow buttons to play/go forward/go back stay greyed out. Polling is on.

Jeff's stuff is not showing up either.

I fired up GRLevel3 to look at the showers around GA this morning and found that GR3 could not get any data at all: no radar data, no warnings, no placefiles, etc. Internet Explorer worked just fine. However, GR3, GR2, and GR2Analyst were completely dead in the water.

Of course, being the first Wednesday in the month, I immediately suspected something was broken by the automatic Windows Update. After looking around some more, I found that the Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings (I'm on a cable modem) had been screwed up by the Windows Update overnight. The checkbox "Automatically detect settings" was unchecked somehow by the automatic update. Checking that box fixed GR3/GR2/GR2Analyst's internet connectivity.

Strangely enough, my second XP machine worked just fine and it had automatically updated last night. So, the problem appears to be machine specific.

Bingo! Thank you 1000 times over!
