• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I downloaded the trial version to check it out and it seems to show very little as far as roads and towns go. Will the full version show more or is this it. Also i do not see very many buttons or options to see storm tracks and arrival times. Is there anything more to this program?

Roads and Towns are very basic, you will see more the further you zoom in but short of adding some maps and additional roads it will be basic. Others can tell you more about additional roads and such.

I have allison house placefiles!

For 10 bucks a month I get RUC mesoanalysis overlays.. everthing from CAPE to SHEAR to any parameter or observation (Surface or UA)...

You also can get forecast and current fronts.. lightning data.. vis sat.. other spotters..storm and spotter reports, non severe watches and warnings (snow, wind, etc..)

All for 10 dollars!

Im trying to remember where, but somewhere I downloaded the Road shape files with street level data... love that!!!!

Theres almost no limit to what sort of add-ons you can put on there. There are a ton of cool things you can add. As far as buttons on the program go, when you first install it almost all of the features aren't enabled, you have to manually do that yourself.

I must have been living in a cave for the last year, I swear last time I asked about mesoanalysis overlays everyone said there still wasn't any available. Im gonna have to look into this now as well.

Or maybe it was that nobody had it for free.

Or maybe Im just crazy and completely not remembering this correctly.

As others have said, you have to download shapefiles to add on the roads. Check the GRLevelX forums. They are a great resource.

None of the GRLevelX programs draw storm track or arrival times.

That's not entirely correct. GRLevel3 does show the SCIT data from the 88D and has the 15 minute tick marks on the lines.

No one other than Baron can automatically use the radar data to make arrival times as this is a Baron patent.

I downloaded some shape files but i can not get them to import. I may go with something else.

I wouldn't give up to easily. Either there is something wrong with the shape files or you doing something wrong. I have GR2AE and have loaded shape file for SC kansas and it works great down to city streets. The GRAE is great (IMO of course).

Under products on the left, click on GRLevel3 and GR2Analyst to see the difference. GR2Analyst is the same as GR2AE (AE stands for analyst edition.)

This will explain the difference between the two a lot better than I can. If you want to chase with radar, level3 is the best because it doesn't require as strong of a data signal as GR2AE.

You have to make sure the shapefile you use has an attribute field that matches one in the .sty file. For the older Census shapefiles that would have been an attribute with the field title "CFCC". I think the sites referenced have the shapefile and .sty file packaged together.

Well, yeah, I was assuming he was talking about Baron-like tracks. That seems to be want most people want whenever they talk about "storm tracks and arrival times" regarding GRLevel3. I should have been more clear earlier. Oh well, you know what happens when you assume things...:D
