I searched past threads and saw that people are making this work so I know there is a way, but I can't get it figured out. I have this gps unit

I finally got the driver to install after searching for a way to fix it for about an hour. Now that I got the driver installed I finished installing gps gate. As far as I know that went okay. So I tried to open grlevel3 and when I try to start the gps in there there are no com ports in the drop down menu when it asks you to select one.
Sooo, I closed that and opened up delorme street atlas. When I tried to open the gps up on that it said something about not recognizing the gps device. Does anybody know what the problem is. I am getting a serious headache trying to set up this new computer. It seems like nothing is working right.

Are you using the supplied driver that came with the BU-353 on the CD? I found that didn't work for me, I went to same URL you listed and made sure to download the all-in-one USB driver. I think this is what you did, but just checking. did you also try the Vista 64bit as an alternative?

I also remember that in some situation, it can matter what sequence you plug in the usb, start the software, etc. Just some simple stuff that I wouldn't be surprised you already tried.

I did try to download the driver for windows 7 from that site. I don't know anything about computers. I dread getting everything working at the beginning of each year.
When I downloaded that driver it wasn't like a typical download for some reason. It opened up a folder location so I right clicked on the folder, but there wasn't a download option. I assume I did it properly. I tried it a second time just to make sure. I can go look at it again and tell you exactly what happens.

I walked back through all the setup directions and it started working. Thank god for small favors. That's one down and a few more to go. The one I'm really dreading is getting the streaming video to work. All I've gotten so far on that is the view of my webcam staring me directly in the face and nobody wants to see that.
thanks for the help. If it wasn't for getting help on here over the years I would never be able to get this stuff working properly.

Going through the woes of setting up this years equipment with Windows 7 myself. I've about got it complete. (currently working on the streaming aspect myself) Let me know if there's any way I can help.
