Does anyone know of good radar/forecasting programs for Mac? Or should i invest in Parallels?

If so, which programs for Windows would you recommend?

Thanks.

WeatherScope runs native on Mac. Good for radar mosaics and other observation data.

You might also get away with running Windows apps through WINE on Mac, though your mileage will most definitely vary.

Keep in mind that Mac OSX can run X Server and that means generally anything that runs on Linux/Unix will run on the Mac. It just might take some flexing of the brain and lots of patience.

I set up parallels and can use my windows bootcamp partition. Whatever they did with parallels, its really convenient now. Instead of having to switch between OSX and the "virtual" Windows window, it is all now fully integrated. I downloaded the trial of GRLevel 3 and it now runs just like any other application in OSX. I can control it from the dock and easily switch between it and OSX applications. Plus it seems to run great.

I just have one question. Is there a way to display the entire United States? Right now i just have a segment of the country displaying based on which radar is selected. This is kind of disorienting since i can't see its position in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks!

Gibson Ridge is supposedly coming out with a product called GREarth that is supposed to display the entire CONUS, but I don't know when that will be available or how much it will cost. GRLevel3 (and GRLevel2 for that matter) can only display one radar site at a time.

I too have just gone to this setup. I used to run Windows XP via Boot Camp only where if I wanted Windows, I'd have to reboot my whole machine, etc. But now it all just works together on one screen with the newest version of Parallels. I run GR3, Delorme, Adobe Flash Encoder, and GPSGate with no problem. Brilliant!

For chasing, I'd stick with GR3. GREarth pulls in a lot of data being a CONUS application. Displaying multiple radars at once is a luxury usually not afforded during chasing...
