I just got a pair of Midland FRS/GMRS 2-way radios for next to nothing. I don't know the details of how they work yet and haven't seen them mentioned here before, but would they be of any help while chasing?

If your chasing with others in the lovely caravan fashion.. you could forewarn them your stopping or going north or what have you.. As long as your within line of site you should be ok..

FRS radios are UHF FM (and usually handheld) which work very well for short range communication. They work well for car to car communications. I sometimes carry a pair of them if I want to chase with non-hams in another vehicle.
